This photo was recently donated to the Boothbay Region Maritime Foundation Research Collection by William and Christopher Stickney. The photographer, Alden Stickney, was a scientist, talented artist, and avid photographer. We are incredibly grateful and honored to add almost 400 of his photos to the Research Collection, a community sourced archive of working waterfront photos from the Boothbay Region. It is a collaboration among the Penobscot Marine Museum, the Boothbay Region Historical Society, and the Boothbay Region Maritime Foundation. Photos from the Research Collection will be on display at the Boothbay Harbor Opera House during the months of August and September. A selection of 35 photos will be sold by silent auction. High resolution photo reprints will be framed in 16x20 frames, five will be reproduced as 30x40 prints on gator board. The public is invited to a reception at the Boothbay Harbor Opera House upstairs gallery on August 19th from 5:00-7:00 PM. The Opera House Gallery is open Wednesday-Friday from 10-2, in addition to being open for ticket holders on the evenings of performances.
