Dear Editor:

Considering the $5.7 billion Mr. Trump wants for a wall to keep Mexico out of the U.S., and vice versa, would it not be a great saving if we simply invaded and absorbed Mexico itself? Thus, we would add 31 states to our 50, and a second federal district to keep our D.C. company.

Since most of the current immigrants/refugees are leaving Central American nations, we could go on to annex C.A., which is comprised of seven nation states, each smaller than many of our states. Indeed, if we could also annex the Caribbean with its 26 island nations, we would add 64 to our current count of 50, all united, no wall needed. Such a saving!

Of course, it would necessitate the redesign of the American flag. Perhaps the original 13 stripes could fill the space currently occupied by our 50 stars, the major portion devoted to 114 stars.
