The town of Alna on April 28 received Lisa Packard’s $500 payment for the cash portion of her shoreland fine, Town Clerk Amy Warner said April 29. Packard plans to talk with Alna selectmen to find out what work she can do for the town to meet the remaining $500 on the fine, Warner said.
Alna selectmen in January went with the planning board’s recommended fine, after town officials heard from residents about a tree house being built on Packard’s property at 91 Dock Road. Town officials determined the structure was not allowed near the Sheepscot River; Packard has said she didn’t know, and that she didn’t know a court order involving a prior owner did not allow anyone to be living in a cabin on the property.
