Book signing in Boothbay Harbor

Mon, 06/27/2022 - 8:00am

Tom Cotter, author and host of the Barn Find Hunter series on Youtube, will sign his new book, “Secrets of the Barn Find Hunter, The Art of Finding Lost Collector Cars,” on the front porch of his house in Boothbay Harbor on Monday, July 4.

Cotter, a noted expert on discovering forgotten and neglected vintage cars and trucks, has written 18 automotive books, 11 specifically about barn-find automobiles. This new book gives many of the tactics he has used since finding his first old car at age 10.

“I’ve been searching for old cars since I was a kid,” said Cotter, who lives in Boothbay Harbor during the summer months. “I’ve pretty much kept my methods secret until now. I decided to write this tell-all book because there are still plenty of old cars all over the country, enough for all of us.”

Some of the chapter titles include: Top 25 Barn Find Hunting Pro Tips; Collector-Car Cold Calling; Rust Never Sleeps; and Hiding in Plain Sight.

McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty Group, wrote the book’s introduction.

If his cell phone works correctly, credit cards will be accepted when purchasing his book.

Several years ago, Cotter sold his book, “Ford Model T Coast-to-Coast, a Slow Drive Across a Fast Country,” from the front porch of his house. Response was so good that he has been looking forward to doing it again.

“I met so many car enthusiasts that day, some of them drove their old cars to my front door,” he said. “I made so many new friends.”

Book signing hours are 10 a.m. to noon, and 2 to 4 p.m.

The address is: 26 Atlantic Ave., Boothbay Harbor, on the east side of the harbor across from the Footbridge.
