Celebrate the Yuletide with music
“Hey Ho the Holly,” an annual celebration of Yuletide music in the folk tradition, will be presented Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at the St Andrews Church, 11 Glidden Street in Newcastle.
The concert will feature Christmas and Yuletide songs and tunes from both the old and new worlds. Many of our cherished holiday traditions originated in Europe and the Celtic lands and were brought to this country by immigrants. This joyous music brings communities together and encourages audience participation and revelry.
Performers include Doug Protsik on accordian, Sharon Pyne Irish flute and guitar, Fred Gosbee playing 12-string guitar, fiddle, and woodwinds, and Julia Lane on Celtic harp. Kaity Newell will play fiddle with a special appearance by the Oyster Creek Fiddlers.
At the end of the show the audience will be led downstairs by the Hey Ho Marching Band for refreshments and carol singing. Audience members are encouraged to bring a contribution to share for the refreshment table.
Admission to the concert is by suggested donation - $8 at the door. All proceeds will benefit Heifer International, an organization which helps provide livestock and agricultural training for people in need throughout the world.
Come join in the festivities and drive the cold winter away! For more information call 207-529-5438 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
