The annual Dresden Summerfest at Pownalborough Court House, 23 Courthouse Road, off Route 218, returns this year to provide fun for the whole family on Sunday, July 11 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Colonial Maine Re-enactors will join in the festivities, which include early American games for kids and adults and lively music by Ken Morse and Friends.
A first-ever tug o’ war between the re-enactors and Dresden Fire Department is sure to stir up some tense moments, and a pie tasting contest should provide some more pleasant sensations. Meanwhile, a character artist will draw portraits of young and old. Children will be happy to know that the goats will be back, ready to be petted.
The fire department will sell hamburgers, hot dogs and snow cones.
The event is hosted by Lincoln County Historical Association, a nonprofit that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
