Damariscotta Contradance Feb. 9
The public is invited to a Community Contradance at the Damariscotta Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Friday, Feb. 9, part of a series of Community Winter contradances. The dance will be held at the Damariscotta Baptist Church located at the corner of Bristol Road and Main Street in Damariscotta.
The evening will begin at 6:30 with a family dance where easy dances will be taught accompanied by the Oyster Creek Fiddlers & Friends. Local musicians are welcome to sit in. The pace will pick up when caller Julia Plumb will lead dancers with an energetic blend of contemporary and traditional folk music.
This contradance series is an initiative by local musicians and Lincoln Academy students. Suggested donations for just the family dance are $4/adults, $2/students; for the family and later dance at 8:30 p.m. tickets are $8/adults and $5/students.
No experience necessary - so, dust off your dancing shoes!
