History of the Popham Colony at Lincoln Home
The Popham Colony was established in 1607, just a few months after the Jamestown Colony in Virginia. The site was rediscovered in 1994 and much of it is located in the present day Popham Beach State Park. Jim Nelson, who lives in Harpswell, has been involved in excavations of the site, and is the award–winning author of 25 books.
The Lincoln Home invites the public to hear Nelson’s talk about the Popham Colony on Monday, March 5, from 3 to 4 p.m. The event is free. The Lincoln Home is located at 22 River Road, Newcastle. For more information, contact Rhonda Hanna, 563-3350, or email@example.com.
