It’s time for the Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Fest
The Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival happening is at Litchfield Fairgrounds, which have a “Welcome Home,” country atmosphere on flat and solid ground. The gates will open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 11 for Early Birds who love to camp! Weekend tickets for each festival will cover four days of great music and camping from Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday Morning Gospel Sing Along and Jam.
Some of the greatest Bluegrass music can be heard at one of the largest family musical events in New England. Here’s this year’s lineup of that great music: Wednesday: June 14: Blue Mafia (Indiana) and two Maine bands - The Misty Mountaineers and Back Woods Road; Thursday, June 15: The Deer Creek Boys (Virginia), The Baker Family (Missouri), Blue Mafia; Friday, June 16: The Deer Creek Boys, Bluegrass Diamonds (New Brunswick), The Baker Family, Back Woods Road, The Box Cars (Tennessee) ; Saturday, June 17: Bluegrass Diamonds, Zink & Company (Massachusetts), The Gibson Brothers (New York), Little Roy & Lizzy Long (Georgia), Maine and host band, Blistered Fingers - a fast- moving traditional Bluegrass Band from the central Maine area that travels extensively around the northeast and eastern Canada; The Misty Mountaineers; Sunday, June 18: Bluegrass Gospel Sing & Jam (Massachusetts).
The Blistered Fingers Kids Academy has a free and relaxed vibe and is an informative three-day music program for children for ages 6-18. The focus is how to play and sing bluegrass music. Students will bring their own instruments and will commit to the three day program. All the kids get a Free T-Shirt and the group performs a couple of songs on Main stage on Saturday.
On the fairgrounds, located at 30 Plains Road, Litchfield, there are 18 women’s and 18 men’s indoor bathroom facilities, four free hot showers, numerous water locations throughout the grounds, electrical hookups ($35 for entire stay), an extra large tent, and several food and craft vendors to select from.
Per person tickets are available at gate. Early bird camping, the Sunday- Tuesday before festival: $10/ day per camper. Folks camping all four days get free camping and pay a flat $90 gate fee. Children 16 and under are free accompanied by a paying adult. Dogs can come too $10 per canine!
For those attending just one day, (prices are per person) Wednesday - $15; Thursday - $20; Friday and Saturday - $35, but after 5 p.m. - $25; Sunday is free with weekend pass.
