Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: More car-deer accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 472 calls from Sept. 11 through Sept. 18. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 12,624 calls for service.

On Sept. 14, Deputy Alonzo Connor was dispatched to a criminal mischief complaint to an excavator (approximate value: $1,500). The complainant stated that sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, someone(s) damaged the window on the excavator. Further investigation if leads develop.

Summons

Carol A. Cushing, 51, of Boothbay was issued a summons Sept. 14 for Criminal Mischief, on Ice Pond Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

Arrests

On Sept. 11, Wayne L. Bland, 40, of Kansas turned himself into Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, on a warrant out of Kennebec County for Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon. Mr. Bland was arrested on the warrant by Sgt. Mark Bridgham and turned over to TBRJ.

Christopher J. Molyneux, 42, of Phippsburg was arrested Sept. 13 for Violating Condition of Release, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.

Mark Despres, 33, of Bowdoinham was arrested Sept. 14 for Violating Condition of Release, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.

Ronnie Russomano, 44, of Boothbay was arrested Sept. 14 for Aggravated Assault, on Ice Pond Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

Accidents

On Sept. 12, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Steven L. Williams, 44, of Gardiner. Mr. Williams was operating his 2011 Jeep Wrangler northbound when he encountered a tree that had partially fallen and was leaning across the road. As a result, Mr. Williams struck the tree, causing significant damage to the windshield. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 12, an accident occurred on Somerville Road in Whitefield involving Dustin W. Colfer, 21, of Unity and Daniel A. Rice, 21, of Windsor. Mr. Colfer had stopped his 2006 Chevrolet 1500 facing southbound very briefly, at the stop sign at the end of Somerville Road. Mr. Rice was operating his 2018 Toyota Tundra eastbound on Main Street, when Colfer failed to yield the right of way to Rice’s vehicle and started to cross Main Street. As a result, Rice was unable to avoid colliding with Colfer’s vehicle. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 13, an accident occurred on Common Drive in Boothbay involving Robin Chase, 63, of Whitefield and Mark D. Marstaller, 59, of Topsham. Mr. Marstaller was backing his 2011 Ford Focus out of the parking lot of Bet’s Fish Fry when he struck Ms. Chase’s 2012 Dodge which was traveling eastbound on Wiscasset Road. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 14, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving Lars E. Hill, 36, of South Bristol. Mr. Hill was operating his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the west side and stuck the front passenger corner of his vehicle. Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 14, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Jeffrey D. Kendall, 32, of Benton. Mr. Kendall was operating his 2010 Kingpin motorcycle southbound on Augusta Road, when he came to the intersection of Augusta Road and Waldoboro Road. As he was approaching the intersection, he applied his brakes and skidded through the intersection, where he then laid the bike on its side and went into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 15, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Peggy S. Martin, 60, of Cushing. Ms. Martin was operating her 1998 Volkswagen Beetle southbound when she got off the edge of the roadway. When trying to get back onto the road, she over corrected, causing the vehicle to cross over the northbound lane and leave the roadway entirely, coming to rest against a CMP pole. Reserve Deputy Neil Genthner was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 17, an accident occurred on Main Road on Westport Island involving Amanda Bailey, 39, of Woolwich. Ms. Bailey was operating her 2014 Jeep northbound when a deer crossed the road and struck the driver’s side of her vehicle, causing damage to the driver’s door and rear driver’s door. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Sept. 17, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Susan M. Anneley, 63, of Edgecomb. Ms. Anneley was operating her 2014 Kia Soul northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the east side and was struck. The deer then ran off on the west side.  Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.
