Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: Several deer/car accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 160 calls for service for the period of Oct. 22 to Oct. 29. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 12,004 calls for service.

Arrests

Vickie L. Chattley, 32, Dresden was arrested Oct. 23 on a Kennebec County warrant, on Common Road, Dresden, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

Nicole A. Gress, 39, of South Bristol was arrested Oct. 23 for Operating under the Influence, on State Route 129, South Bristol, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.

George A. Day, 36, of Belgrade was arrested Oct. 23 on a York District Court warrant for Unpaid Fines, on Somerville Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Scott Peterson.

Summonses

Jason V. Lint, 42, of Windsor was issued two summonses Oct. 22 for Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, on Augusta Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Andrew Miner.

Charles E. Blackman, 80, of Boothbay Harbor was issued a summons Oct. 27 for Operating after Suspension, on Route 1, Edgecomb, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.

Accidents

On Oct. 22, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving David E. Jackson, 48, of Whitefield.  Mr. Jackson was operating his 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound when a deer ran in front of his vehicle and was struck. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 22, an accident occurred on Barters Island Road in Boothbay involving Joseph A. Blake, 74, of Trevett. Mr. Blake was operating is 2013 Toyota Scion southbound when a deer ran into the roadway and impacted his vehicle. Deputy Caleb Fortin was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 22, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving June R. Coopersmith, 61, of South Bristol. Ms. Coopersmith was operating her 2019 Subaru Crosstrek southbound when a deer crossed the road. Coopersmith was unable to avoid striking the deer, which caused minor damage to the front passenger corner of her vehicle. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 23, an accident occurred on Bath Road in Wiscasset involving Jeffrey E. Howard, 57, of Wiscasset and Charles J. Knapp, 41, of Woolwich. Mr. Howard was crossing Route 1, going from the Circle K parking lot to the Dunkin Donuts parking lot in his 2006 Toyota Sienna. Mr. Knapp was operating his 2005 Volvo 70 northbound when the two vehicles collided in front of the entrance to Dunkin Donuts. Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 23, an accident occurred in the parking lot of the Lincoln County Communications Center in Wiscasset involving Pamela J. Perry, 59, of Bath and Eve A. Jamieson, 48, of Boothbay. Ms. Perry’s 2013 Subaru Legacy was legally parked when Ms. Jamieson backed her 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprint into it. Deputy Scott Peterson was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 24, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Richard C. Page, 50, of Farmingdale. Mr. Page was operating his 2010 Toyota Corolla northbound when a deer entered the right side of the roadway and attempted to cross the road, impacting the front passenger corner of his vehicle. Deputy David Bellows was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 25, an accident occurred on West Alna Road in Alna involving Allen Z.W. Simmons, 30, of Alna. Mr. Simmons was operating his 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander southbound when he stated he was fatigued and swerved to avoid a deer that entered the roadway. As a result, his vehicle left the roadway on the left side and struck a tree. Deputy David Bellows was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 25, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Alan O. Poland, 54, of Cushing. Mr. Poland was operating his 2016 Toyota 4Runner northbound on the north on-ramp to US Route 1 when a deer entered the roadway, left to right in front of him and was struck.  Deputy David Bellows was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 25, an accident occurred on South Clary Road in Jefferson involving James V. McKenna, 50, of Jefferson. Mr. McKenna was operating his 2005 Chevrolet Blazer southbound when he swerved to avoid two deer in the roadway. As a result, his vehicle exited the roadway to the right and came to final rest in a ditch, causing disabling damage to the front of his vehicle. Deputy Chase Bosse was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 26, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Taylor L. Pike, 16, of Gray. Ms. Pike was operating her 2008 Subaru Forester northbound, attempting to turn right onto Atlantic Highway. Pike (a permit operator), who was being monitored by a licensed front passenger, over shot the turn and proceeded off the roadway, where her vehicle then proceeded down an embankment and flipped over, before coming to rest on its wheel. Deputy Daniel Sceviour was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 26, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving James M. MacDonnell, 31, of Gardiner and Stacy D. Lund, 48, of Dresden. Mr. MacDonnell was operating his 2016 Jeep Wrangler westbound when he crossed the centerline and struck the driver’s side of Mr. Lund’s 2009 GMC 2500, who was operating his vehicle eastbound. As a result, MacDonnell’s vehicle skidded sideway into the westbound ditch and struck a tree. Sgt. Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 26, an accident occurred on Harrington Road in South Bristol involving Shari I. Fredette, 67, of Bristol and Emily A. Meader, 30, of South Bristol. Ms. Meader had stopped her 2007 Toyota Prius at the intersection of Harrington Road and Route 129, waiting to turn left. Ms. Fredette was operating her 2017 GMC Acadia southbound on Route 129 and attempted to turn left onto the Harrington Road. Fredette advised she did not see Meader’s vehicle stopped at the intersection and as a result, she struck it in the front end. Detective Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 27, an accident occurred on N. Newcastle Road in Newcastle involving Jennifer L. Audet, 47, of Jefferson. Ms. Audet was operating her 2007 Nissan Versa northbound when she drifted to the left side and left the road, coming to rest in the ditch on the west side. Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 27, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Charles E. Blackman, 80, of Boothbay Harbor. Mr. Blackman was operating his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he approached the Route 27 exit at a high rate of speed. As a result, he lost control on the curve and went off the road to the left, struck the guard wires of a utility pole and rolled over. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Jessica Tillson, 33, of Jefferson and Mitchell J. Jacobs, 39, of Brunswick. Mr. Jacobs was operating his 1998 GMC truck northbound and slowing down to turn left (blinker on) into the gas station. Ms. Tillson was operating her 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee behind Jacobs’s vehicle when she stated she was reaching for coffee and ran into the back of his truck. Sgt. Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on US Route 1 in Nobleboro involving Jerry L. Radley, 35, of Rockland. Mr. Radley was operating his 2005 Jeep Liberty northbound on Route 1, at the intersection of Lazy Acres Lane. As he was proceeding forward, a deer entered the travel lane from a field area and was struck. Deputy Daniel Sceviour was the investigating officer.
