Lincoln County Sheriff's Office: Several more deer/car accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 309 calls for service between Nov. 27 and Dec. 4. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 15,353 calls for service.

On Nov. 27, Deputy Kevin Dennison was dispatched to a criminal mischief to a mailbox complaint in the Bremen area. The complainant stated sometime before 3 p.m., this date, he noticed his mailbox had been damaged (approximate value $40).

On Nov. 27, Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was dispatched to a report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle in the Nobleboro area. The complainant stated that sometime since Nov. 24, someone(s) had broken a rear window out of her vehicle (approximate value: $365). Further investigation if leads develop.

Arrest

Travis J. Morton, 41, of Newcastle was arrested Dec. 2 for Operating under the Influence, Violating Condition of Release and a Probation Violation, on Sheepscot Road, Newcastle, by Deputy Caleb Poirier, who was assisted by Sgt. Aaron Beck.

Accidents

On Nov. 27, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Jeffrey D. Fortier, 35, of Wiscasset. Mr. Fortier was operating his 2015 Subaru Impreza northbound when lost control of his vehicle, exited the roadway on the right side and hit a guardrail, coming to final rest in the breakdown lane on the right side of the road. Mr. Fortier’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front. Deputy Chase Bosse was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 27, an accident occurred on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson involving Theresa M. Taylor, 30, of Jefferson. Ms. Taylor was operating her 2010 Dodge northbound and due to slush in the road, she lost control and went off the left side of the roadway. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 27, an accident occurred on Townhouse Road in Whitefield involving Carl H. Keller, 24, of Whitefield. Mr. Keller was operating his 2011 GMC 1500 northbound when due to slushy road conditions, he lost control of his vehicle, went off the right side and struck a CMP pole. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 28, an accident occurred on Eddy Road in Edgecomb involving John Pray Jr., 17, of Wiscasset. Mr. Pray was operating his 2002 Toyota Camry southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the northbound ditch and struck a tree. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Harrington Road involving Matthew Filler, 76, of Damariscotta. Mr. Filler was operating his 2018 Subaru Outback westbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck, causing front-end damage. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Paul R. Oakland, 57, of Dresden. Mr. Oakland was operating his 2017 Jeep Wrangler northbound when he struck a deer crossing the roadway from west to east, causing functional damage to the driver’s side corner of the vehicle. Deputy Chase Bosse was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on River Road in Newcastle involving Jessica L. Taylor, 36, of Edgecomb. Ms. Taylor was operating her 2010 Nissan Altima southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the left side and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Whitefield involving Whitney S. Myers, 31, of Rockport. Ms. Myers was operating her 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound and just before the Windsor town line, a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.

On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving William O. Glendinning, 68, of South Bristol. Mr. Glendinning was operating his 2012 Land Rover Evoque southbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck, causing front-end damage. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Margaret R. Turner, 81, of Orono. Ms. Turner was operating her 2016 GMC Sierra southbound when her left front tire went flat. As a result, her vehicle crossed over the centerline and made contact with a guardrail on the left side of the road. Ms. Turner was able to get her vehicle back onto the road, where it came to rest in the southbound breakdown lane. Reserve Deputy Neil Genthner was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Jefferson involving Casey A. Smith, 26, of Waterville. Mr. Smith was operating his 2008 Pontiac G5 westbound when a deer entered the roadway from the left side and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Sheepscot Road in Newcastle involving Travis J. Morton, 41, of Newcastle. Mr. Morton was operating his 2014 Ford F-250 northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the road on the right side and struck a telephone pole and a tree. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 3, an accident occurred on Upper East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Zachary T. Brewer, 25, of Edgecomb. Mr. Brewer was operating his 2007 Kia Rio southbound and rounding a curve, when due to the roadway becoming icy, he failed to negotiate the curve and struck a utility pole. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 3, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Denise M. Soucy, 57, of Nobleboro. Ms. Soucy was operating her 2014 Honda CRV northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the west side and struck the front driver’s side corner. The deer then slid down the driver’s side doing more damage and was found deceased at the scene. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
