This August, Midcoast Youth Theater is excited to present their upcoming summer middle school production Narnia the Musical with a 6-9 grade cast, featuring youth from Brunswick, Topsham, Harpswell, Bath, Yarmouth, Freeport and other surrounding areas. Featuring a cast of 28, Narnia is directed by Pamela Sullivan with musical direction by Courtney Babbidge and choreography by Rowan Joyce.

“Narnia the Musical,” with script by Jules Tasca, music by Thomas Tierney, and lyrics by Ted Drachman, is based on the beloved C.S. Lewis’ classic, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  It follows the adventures of the four Pevensie children, Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter who travel to the magical land of Narnia via an enchanted wardrobe. The children will be portrayed by Claire Caton, Taylor Sutherburge, Olive Beeton and Nolan Kaisar respectively.

While in Narnia they meet a variety of creatures including Tumnus the fawn (Alyssa Siggins) and the evil White Witch (Maggie York). With the help of Mr. and Mrs. Beaver (Terrence Snow and Gemma Caswell), the siblings help restore the great lion, Aslan (Anya Bachor), to his rightful place as King of the Land.  A classic tale of temptation and fame vs. loyalty and friendship, Narnia delivers its message through delightful songs and dances the whole family will enjoy.

MYT will present Narnia the Musical at Mt. Ararat Middle School’s Orion Theater on Thursday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. Advanced tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors/students, and $8 for children under age five can be purchased online at www.midcoastyouththeater.org.
