Museum in the Streets donations

Mon, 06/25/2018 - 4:00pm

Dear Editor:

I am writing on behalf of Wiscasset’s Museum in the Streets Committee to publicly acknowledge the generosity of Michelle and Skylar Wentworth.

Last year Michelle came to me and asked how our MITS project was coming along. She spoke quite a bit about its value to the town and praised the efforts and hard work of our very small group of folks to bring the project to fruition.

During the conversation, I explained that we have the monthly cost of our app and an annual cost for the printing of brochures.

It has been a rare occurrence recently to have such positive feedback as it has become “old hat” to see the MITS signs and brochures about town.

When I was back home from the event at which we had talked, lo and behold, there was a check waiting on my porch for the cost of the app for the entire year! What a wonderful surprise it was that awaited me. Imagine that such kindness and interest was shown as the result of our simple conversation.

We thank them for their generous donation as it helped us survive another year!

We are most fortunate to live in a town where there is kindness and generosity such as the Wentworths showed our small MITS organization. There have been many other donations which have helped us along the way, from local folks to visitors who have sent notes and small donations as a result of a pleasant afternoon tour of our village.

I am reminded of a quote by Aesop “no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

Thank you to all you folks both near and far.

If you are a friend of Aesop, donations are always welcome and are tax deductible to WMITS, Box 16 ,Wiscasset, Maine 04578. Wiscasset’s Museum in the Streets Committee: Ed Kavanagh, Peggy Konitzky, Sue Robson, Mary Ellen Barnes and Ronn Orenstein
