Dear Editor:

We have just moved out of our wonderful little house on Wiscasset’s Fore Street, and settled into our new (1876) home on Chebeague Island. All of this is due to a happy turn of events in our family, and we are excited about the new adventure awaiting us.

At the same time, we are leaving Wiscasset and Lincoln County with considerable regret. Seven years go, this beautiful community welcomed us with enthusiasm and kindness. We were invited into neighbors’ homes; we were asked to join civic and social groups; and soon we felt integral to our village and its environs. We developed many close friendships. We learned about the region’s remarkable heritage and culture, which we adopted as “ours.”

Though we’re no longer residents of Wiscasset, we will always, proudly, consider ourselves “from Wiscasset.”
