Fans of fine dining, coastal views, local stories, and charitable causes will want to buy a ticket for the Oct. 3 “friendraising” dinner sponsored by Tim and Betsey Norland of the Seagull Shop for the nonprofit Inn Along the Way. All profits from the dinner will go toward the building project at Inn Along the Way’s Chapman Farm in Damariscotta.

Inn Along the Way is a nonprofit organization in the process of creating a collaborative community offering older adults, and those seeking temporary relief from the responsibilities of caregiving, an environment of support, purpose, and sustainability in a multigenerational and mutually interdependent setting. The organization is currently raising funds to complete its first phase, which will transform the original farmhouse into a small inn with a café and community rooms, offering overnight accommodations to the general public, as well as those seeking respite. For more information, visit

The Seagull Shop, with its iconic views of the Pemaquid Lighthouse, the bold Atlantic coast, and Monhegan Island in the distance, will offer diners a three-course meal with three delectable entrées from which to choose. Diners are welcome to bring a favorite bottle of wine to accompany their meal.

Entertainment during the dinner will be provided by a group of storytellers, including Chris Chapman who is working on a book of reminiscences about growing up at Chapman Farm, and Tracy Verney, who will recount her experiences lobstering and fishing with her dad, Wally Leeman, in Muscongus Bay

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the Seagull Shop (located next to the Pemaquid Lighthouse), Inn Along the Way’s office at 741 Main Street in Damariscotta on Monday mornings or Thursday afternoons; or by calling Sherry Flint at 207-751-6261.

Tickets are limited. There will be two seatings for dinner: one at 4:30 and another at 6:45. The storytellers will entertain at each seating. For more information, please call Sherry or email
