The Harbor Theater’s run of the new Mark Ruffalo film begins Friday, Jan. 10, but its Jan.11 audience is in for an added treat.

Mark Ruffalo’s stepfather, Jerry Hull, will introduce the film and talk about Mark as a real life crusader. Mark's mother, Marie Rose Ruffalo, will also attend. And Mark, himself, will greet the audience in a short video he recorded just to say hello.

The actor has taken on various causes most of his adult life, choosing to produce films related to social and environmental issues that have touched him personally. He fought and helped eliminate fracking in New York State, was one of the first to join the protest of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and now is deeply involved in the issue of PFAS ("forever chemicals"), the topic of Dark Waters. In this film, Ruffalo plays Rob Bilott, the lawyer who successfully uncovered the truth about DuPont's popular product, Teflon, that was found to cause cancer and death in many individuals before the corporation admitted its malfeasance.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Hull’s intro is set for 6:45 p.m. The film will begin at 7. Wine and cheese reception. Q&A will follow the screening that runs just over 2 hours. Tickets are $10 ($8 for members and youth under 18). The film runs through Thursday, Jan.16.
