Sun shines on Strawberry Festival

St. Philip’s Church's 66th annual Strawberry Festival in Wiscasset, held June 30 in the church hall and grounds, included many crafters. They offered everything from baby quilts and handmade cars to trucks and handwoven baskets, keeping festival-goers busy during the four-hour event.

But the heart of the festival is, of course, the strawberries. This year, they were a little later than usual, which meant plenty of red, ripe, juicy berries. Quarts were sold and large and small strawberry shortcake, with either whipped cream or ice cream over a scrumptious homemade biscuit, was on offer in the church hall.  The bake table offered strawberry pies, tarts, and even cookies. Hot dogs and sodas were also available.

Soft guitar music entertained the crowds, which at the height of the festival numbered about 150 people.
