The Boothbay Region YMCA is launching its annual Knickerbocker Fund Drive to support summer camp scholarships for Boothbay region children and youth.

“Each year the Boothbay Region YMCA strives to support working families by raising funds for scholarships to help send children to camp. The Y’s goal is to make camp accessible for every family in the community, said Executive Director Andy Hamblett. “Whether it’s swimming, boating, sports, tug of war, singing by the campfire, arts and crafts, or friendships formed, we know that camp matters. It mattered to each of us, and camp continues to matter in the lives of the young people we serve every year.”

Summer camp provides children and youth with the opportunity to develop new friendships and important life skills including strong character, curiosity, independence, courage, creativity, team work, and leadership in addition to fostering an affinity for nature and an appreciation for physical activity and the outdoors.

Each year the Boothbay Region YMCA strives to support working families by raising funds for scholarships to help send their children to camp. The generosity of the community ensures that a new generation of campers from the Boothbay peninsula experiences the life-changing impact of camp.

Gifts to the Knickerbocker Fund can be made in person, online (www.boothbayregionymca.org), or by mailing a check to the BRYMCA, P.O. Box 500, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
