“Official Secrets” -  ( Rated R for language; 1 hour, 52 minutes) - The gripping story of Katharine Gun (Keira Knightley), a British intelligence specialist who became a whistle blower when she discovered that the United States was enlisting Britain's help in collecting compromising information on United Nations Security Council members in order to blackmail them into voting in favor of an invasion of Iraq. Gun makes the gut-wrenching decision to defy her government and leak the memo to the press. So begins an explosive chain of events that will ignite an international firestorm, expose a vast political conspiracy, and put Gun and her family directly in harm's way. Final screenings at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 and Thursday, Oct. 17.

“Out of Africa” -  Classic Film Series - (Rated PG, 2 Hours, 33 minutes) - Based on the life and writings of Baroness Karen Blixen (Meryl Streep), it tells the story of a Danish woman who, despairing that she would be single forever, married her lover's brother, moved out to Kenya to run a coffee plantation on the slopes of Kilimanjaro and later, after she discovered her husband was unfaithful, fell in love with a wild game hunter (Robert Redford) who was more than willing to take her on, but never wanted to marry. After the farm went bankrupt, Blixen returned to Denmark and wrote of her experiences in Africa under the pen name Isac Dinesan. Directed by Sydney Pollack. Winner of seven Oscars including Best Original Score by John Barry 1985. “Ad Astra” - (PG-13, 2 Hours, 4 minutes) -  Thirty years ago, Clifford McBride (Tommy Lee Jones) led a voyage into deep space, but the ship and crew were never heard from again. Now his son, Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) --must embark on a daring mission to Neptune to uncover the truth about his missing father and a mysterious power surge that threatens the stability of the universe. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” - National Theatre Live -  (PG-13; 3 hours) - Shakespeare's most famous romantic comedy, captured live from the Bridge Theatre in London, comes to the big screen. A feuding fairy King and Queen of the forest cross paths with four runaway lovers and a troupe of actors trying to rehearse a play. As their dispute grows, the magical royal couple meddle with mortal lives leading to love triangles, mistaken identities and transformations ... with hilarious, but dark consequences. Gwendoline Christie, Oliver Chris, David Moorst and Hammed Animashaun lead the cast as Titania, Oberon, Puck and Bottom. Directed by Nicholas Hytner. “Gauguin in Tahiti: Paradise Lost” - Great Art on Screen - (1 hour, 30 minutes) - The legendary life story of Paul Gauguin who left France for Tahiti, feverishly in search of deep immersions into lush nature, for feelings, visions and colors, ever purer and brighter.  Come join in this journey from Tahiti to American museums including New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, National Gallery of Art in DC, and Boston's Museum of Fine Arts where Gauguin’s greatest masterpieces are now preserved. “The Peanut Butter Falcon” -  (PG-13; 1 hour, 37 minutes) -  A modern Mark Twain style adventure story, “The Peanut Butter Falcon” tells the story of Zak (Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church). A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler (LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak's unlikely coach and ally. “Turandot” - The Met Live in HD Encore - (3 hours, 22 minutes) - with pre screeening talk - Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Franco Zeffirelli’s celebrated production of Puccini’s Turandot, starring Christine Goerke in the title role of the icy Chinese princess who has renounced all men. Yusif Eyvazov sings Calàf, the suitor who risks his head for her hand and sings the famed aria "Nessun dorma.” Playing Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. following a pre-opera talk with Dr. Morton Achter at 11:45 a.m. Tickets: $25 adult, $23 member, and $5 youth 18 and under.

“Toni Morrison: The Pieces I am” -  (PG-13; 2 hours) - This artful and intimate meditation on the legendary storyteller examines her life, her works and the powerful themes she has confronted throughout her literary career. Toni Morrison (1931-2019) leads an assembly of her peers, critics and colleagues on an exploration of race, history, America and the human condition. Playing Tuesday, Oct.  22 at 2 and 7 p.m.

Talking Food in Maine: Intimate Conversations -  Special guest: Chef Kerry Altiero - Join host Cherie Scott for this special evening with Chef Altiero - winner of Hospitality Maine’s 2019 chef of the year award and owner of the iconic and award-winning Café Miranda in Rockland. Altiero has won numerous culinary accolades in the last 26 years. Back in 2000, Altiero launched Headacre Farm, located in Owl’s Head. Kerry is the author of the cookbook Adventures in Comfort Food, which will be available for purchase and signing during the evening. Chef Altiero will launch his second restaurant, Bar & Lounge, in Rockland, this November. Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. This is a FREE event.
