Dear Editor:

I am writing in support of Doug Baston, who is running for his third consecutive term as an Alna selectman. He also served on the select board in the early 1990s and sat on the planning board for over 25 years. Doug works hard to serve our town's best interests.

I have known Doug for more than 30 years and it's my impression that he values working collaboratively with other selectmen and the members of other town boards and committees, which is essential to actually getting things done.

When he ran for office four years ago, Doug promised to look into what he believed was the underpayment of town property taxes by CMP. Investigation by the select board and other committees followed, resulting in increased revenue from CMP and a 10 percent reduction in taxes paid by town property owners.

There is every reason to expect that Doug will continue to serve the town with the same dedication and energy he's shown in the past and I believe he has earned our votes.

Voting is on Friday, March 22 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the fire station. And absentee ballots are available from the town office.
