Dear Editor:

Among several outstanding Democratic candidates running for governor, I am drawn to Mark Eves, whose progressive vision and experience as a family therapist, legislator, and Speaker of the House, make him superbly qualified to be our next governor.

Mark knows first-hand the economic, social, and health challenges Maine people face and is eager to deliver policies and programs that will ease the burdens too many have had to bear in recent years.

Mark led passage of Medicaid expansion through the legislature five times and voters have overwhelmingly supported it. He also supports moving toward a single payer health care system. It's long past time that we have a governor who will respond to the peoples' will rather than his own whimsy.

Apart from his vision and extraordinary experience, Mark is a thoroughly decent, straight-forward, courageous human being--a breath of fresh air in our sadly toxic, partisan political atmosphere.
