We are open for business

Wed, 06/24/2020 - 9:00am

A Boothbay Harbor business owner contacted me a couple of weeks ago. She said business was down and perhaps one of the reasons why – besides the COVID-19 pandemic – was that people didn’t know her business and others were open. “(One) lady didn’t think any businesses were open downtown,” said the business owner.

Well, the Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper is open for business – we never closed due to the pandemic – and we depend on businesses advertising with us to keep us functioning. We realize that some businesses had to close, or cut down on their hours, due to the pandemic, and some hadn’t opened for the season yet. But now that summer is here and several more businesses are opening, we urge you to advertise with us. Because of the pandemic and the drop in advertising, we made the decision to merge the Register with the Wiscasset Newspaper. Like other businesses, we had to make adjustments in our spending. The staff has adjusted well to the change but we are still looking forward to increasing our advertising, thus increasing our news coverage to what it once was.

Businesses in the Boothbay and Wiscasset regions are opening/reopening, due to Gov. Mills loosening the pandemic restrictions. We welcome back some of our advertisers and we will welcome any new advertisers. And thanks to those advertisers who stuck with us through the first few months of this situation.

Let’s all work together to become a thriving region once again. Let’s wear masks, maintain social distancing and wash our hands or sanitize if businesses ask us to to avoid possibly contracting or spreading the coronavirus – for the safety of all.
