Wiscasset police received a report Nov. 4 of an alleged employee theft resulting in the loss of more than $28,000, the department reported on its Facebook page Nov. 10.

“The Circle K management team did an excellent job putting all the pieces together and compiling evidence of the alleged thefts that occurred between Sept. 2 and Oct. 29,” the post read.

On Nov. 5, Wiscasset police charged Abby Bragdon, 34, of Wiscasset with Class B theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. Bragdon, a Circle K employee, allegedly stole $28,421 from the register during her scheduled work shifts.

On Nov. 10, Heather-Rae Bisson, 47, of Dresden was also charged with Class B theft by unauthorized taking or transfer for her alleged role in the thefts. It is alleged Bisson helped Bragdon complete the thefts by going to Circle K during Bragdon’s shifts to collect and remove the stolen cash from the store.

Both women are scheduled to appear in Wiscasset Unified Court Dec. 17.
