Summerfest is Saturday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. First Congregational Church of Wiscasset’s annual fair will be held on the Wiscasset common as it has been for over 35 years with the exception of last year.
One of the main attractions is the silent auction, this year featuring an L.L. Bean inflatable kayak with pump and paddle. Other items include a nifty combination L. L. Bean fire pit and grill, a guest pass for a family of four to Monkey C Monkey Do, and pottery from Edgecomb Pottery and Sheepscot Pottery, as well as gift certificates from local shops and services.
Summerfest is a shopper’s paradise. Church members have been collecting everything from soup bowls to nutcrackers for the giant yard sale. The Organ Society ladies have been knitting and sewing items for sale, the jewelry table will have jewelry in all price ranges including a pair of Navajo silver earrings, and the book table will have books, puzzles and more.
Plans are underway for the dog parade, children’s games and, to top it off, the On-common café will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers and some veggie burgers, sausages, beef and chicken skewers, and soft drinks. Gluten-free options will be available for the buns. Come and enjoy the fair to hear music from the Clarinotes and from the Razcals Jazztime band.
Proceeds of the fair are donated to local outreach organizations at a special Sunday in October. For more information, call 882-7544.
