Wiscasset Town Manager Dennis Simmons said the town office had a plumbing issue Nov. 26 that backed up the toilets and flooded the bathrooms, the hall, and his office.

"This necessitated the (town) office be closed for cleanup and to dry the floors, carpets and affected walls. The issue is being created by a deteriorating pipe that runs under the floors of the office and the fire department," Simmons wrote in his manager's report released with the Dec. 2 selectboard meeting packet. 

"We are evaluating the best way to resolve this issue without tearing up the floors, which would require the office to be closed for several days," Simmons wrote.
