The former Wiscasset Primary School building is back on the market about 19 months after it was sold to a group of investors. Tim Millett, a broker with CBRE Boulos’s Portland office, confirmed the former elementary school is listed at $795,000.

“The owners who bought the property have decided to bring it back on the market offering it as a joint venture opportunity, or to sell it outright,” he said in a telephone interview Wednesday morning, Aug. 15. A sign advertising the property was posted on the lawn earlier in the week.

Millett said JSJ Holdings LLC of Portsmouth, N.H. closed on the property Jan. 30, 2017. “They’ve looked into a number of uses for the property including using it as a possible site for a nursing home, assisted living or memory care facility, or converting it to elderly housing or condominiums.”

The building is on about 11.2 acres off Route 27 and located within a walking distance of the Wiscasset town office, community center, downtown and waterfront.

It was built in 1973 and has two stories with 50 rooms, a multi-purpose room, full basement and two large parking lots.

After the K-3 school closed, the town put the property up for sale. The original asking price was $749,000; the select board later lowered the price and sold the property for $505,000.
