Take the journey from the far away land of India all the way to the rocky coast of Maine at the world premiere of “Mumbai to Maine,” coming to the Harbor Theater Tuesday, Dec. 11. The evening begins with food, festivities, and live music at 6 p.m., followed by the screening at 7 p.m.

“Mumbai to Maine” is the first of a six-part original series in development created by Maine resident, Cherie Scott in collaboration with award-winning director Ryan Leighton and renowned cinematographer, Cody Mitchell.

Driven by a life-long passion for the culinary arts and based on her blog mumbaitomaine.com, Cherie explores the relationships and personal journeys that have shaped the lives of Maine merchants, shopkeepers, farmers, tradespeople and entrepreneurs. As the show’s host, Cherie merges Maine’s unique culture with her Indian roots, blending a unique narrative with beautiful cinematic flair.

“When I left Mumbai 23 years ago, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that Boothbay, Maine would one day be my home and my happy place,” said Cherie Scott. “I knew I had to find a portal to share my passion for Mumbai and Indian cuisine and to tie it into my deep love for Maine’s dynamic food scene.”

Cherie reached out to award-winning director Ryan Leighton, of Walking Home fame and Cody Mitchell, cinematographer and station manager at BRTV Media to collaborate on the production. Ryan and Cody are both Maine natives who grew up capturing the characters and “local color” stories in the Boothbay region.

The pilot episode will feature Eventide Specialties with co-owner Kim Martin and how she launched her successful year-round specialty store with her partner Denise Demeter in Boothbay Harbor.

“This series will showcase Maine and promote the high quality of life we enjoy here in the mid-coast region,” said Cody Mitchell. “It’s based on what life really is like in Maine and not just how it should be.”

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Harbor Theater with a live hour-long performance by Max Ater served with food and beverages. Attendees will nosh on Mumbai-inspired culinary treats by Eventide Specialties, and Maine-inspired fare by award-winning executive chef Stephen Richards, The Thistle Inn, Family Thyme Catering & Culinary Events and Sedgley Place. During the screening the audience will munch on Coastal Maine Popcorn Co.’s Maine Maple gourmet popcorn. A quick Q & A will follow the screening alongside Eventide Chai by Boothbay’s Merry Auld Market & Tea, Co. and a delectable spread of Mumbai and Maine-themed desserts by gourmet baker Jennifer Keegan.

The night will close on a sweet and savory surprise with two giveaways from The Holy Donut and Skordo. Special thanks to Sweet Bay for sponsoring the venue and Boothbay Craft Brewery Beer and The Thistle Inn for donating all of the proceeds from the beer and wine to BRTV Media Center.

A limited number of tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite until they sell out. Additionally, 50 tickets will be available for pre-sale at the Harbor Theater, located at 185 Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor starting Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Ticket proceeds will benefit the further production of the Mumbai to Maine’s tv series.
