Studio 53 Fine Art in Boothbay Harbor has a new exhibition featuring new work by gallery owners Heidi Seidelhuber and Terry Seaman running through Oct. 14.

“Entangled Fugues? Contrapuntal Entropy?” — Terry Seaman’s new drawings and paintings, done in 2019, seek to convey in a two dimensional form the sort of Baroque musical characteristics and quantum physics phenomena that can only exist in the dimension of time. On the gallery’s first floor his beautiful and never repetitive pairs of abstract pencil drawings, are entangled but with reverse polarities. They make sense visually as if you were seeing entangled magnetic fields. His paintings set into conflict Baroque contrapuntal technics for the sake of order with quantum physics entropy for the sake of dis-orderliness developing. These paintings hold together but you could never figure out how. Where else would you expect to see this but here at Studio 53?

Heidi Seidelhuber’s “A Walk Around Squirrel Island” depicts some quirky locations on Squirrel Island, the Inner Harbor and Cozy Harbor map out the agenda for Heidi Seidelhuber’s very personal watercolors in 2019. This is all new work being shown on the second floor of Studio 53. Themes are evident relevant to what Heidi thinks about what she sees while driving for many hours on two lane roads, locations subliminally chosen for their resemblance to childhood environs, design progressions in shoreline rocks, plants and marks of paint, low light situations, and an irascible, as in pesky, sports based insistence on equilibrium.

An opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31. Aaron Robinson has composed a fugue in Terry’s honor and he will perform a debut of the work at the reception! Studio 53 Fine Art is at 53 Townsend Avenue. For more information, call the gallery at 633-2755.
