The Peace Gallery in Damariscotta is premiering it’s 12th program in August. It’s a one-time-only engagement offering live music and chanting on Thursday evening, Aug. 4 at 6.

Carla and Justin bring their take on Bhajan/Kirtan to Yoga studios and venues around the United States. Bhajan, closely related to Kirtana is a devotional performance art rooted in the Bhakti traditions of India.

Carla (drums) and Justin (harmonium) met singing opposite one another at a performance in 2017 and formed a music group soon after. Participants are welcome to sing, clap, or sit quietly, while the emphasis of any performance is calling on Divine. People have reported reduced stress & increased sleep after a session.

“This live chant, mantra Journey will be capped at 20 persons maximum,” explained The Peace Gallery’s leader, Damariscotta’s Bernie Delisle. “I suggest early registration, as this ‘by donation,’ event will fill-up quickly.”

“I couldn’t be happier with the immediate growth of the gallery’s activities,” Delisle continued. We’ve only been here as a community resource for about three months. Please contact me at peacegallery112@gmail.com to learn more.”

The Peace Gallery, at 112 Main St., is community based, community focused and community empowered to showcase and support the creative works of veterans and provide a community resource for practices that support health, well-being and a mutual understanding.
