Staged reading of ‘Suddenly Last Summer’
Studio Theatre of Bath (STB) presents the next in their series of staged readings, Tennessee Williams' "Suddenly Last Summer,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Patten Free Library.
Described as one of Williams’ most haunting pieces of writing, "Suddenly Last Summer" explores how far a mother will go to preserve her son’s reputation - even it means destroying her daughter who she’s institutionalized. A critic for the New York Times wrote, “It represents Mr. Williams at the peak of his talent ... his most devastating statement about corruption in the world ... a triumphant piece of dramatic literature."
Directed by STB board member Kendray Rodriguez, this production features Maine actors Ann Scarponi, Kobi Appleby, Amanda Bobbe, Letia Fowlie, Heather Guglielmo, Pamela Mutty, and Billy Rankis.
"Suddenly Last Summer" will be presented in the Community Room at the Patten Free Library, 33 Summer Street in Bath. Doors will open at 7 p.m., the reading begins at 7:30. Admission is free of charge, with donations to Studio Theatre of Bath encouraged.
