WCC November news

Wed, 11/08/2017 - 11:30am

This past month has been a bit of a blur for us with all of the holiday events!  We also ended the month by becoming a warming shelter for the community due to the storm on Oct. 30. We were very humbled and appreciative of all the generous and thankful people that came to the “warming shelter” helped us out and thanked us over and over again.  Over the course of the week without power, we saw as many as 400 people per day taking advantage of a hot shower, a warm meal or to charge their devices. It is times such as these when we learn the value of living in a small town where people help their neighbors.  Thank you for letting us be part of that.

November starts off for us with a lot of activity! We will be recognizing our veterans and military members of our community be offering free use of the Community Center to all veterans, military members and their families on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  It is our way of saying “Thank you” for your service  and sacrifice.  We hope to see many of you enjoy our pool play in the gym or use the fitness center.

November also begins the holiday season, and we are going into it with a huge sale! We are offering a one-day sale of our yearly memberships at 1998 pricing, calling it our “Throwback Membership Sale”  From 12:00 p.m.  to 11:59 p,m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, you can take advantage of a yearly pre-paid membership at nearly 25 percent off the current price! This is for both community partners and non-residents. We will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  for anyone who would like to walk in to purchase, and you can also purchase your membership online!

Our winter programs will be underway soon, with registration currently going on for Youth Basketball, travel Youth basketball, and Men’s league starting up soon. The Unsinkables are currently practicing and getting ready for a busy season!  Breakfast with Santa (Dec. 9) prep is taking place, and we look forward to the publication of our winter/spring brochure, which should be online by Thanksgiving Weekend!  We have lots of new programs and events in the works, including some senior trips, family events including bingo nights and movie nights and a Family Red Sox trip !
