    Evelyn N. Peaslee Gaboury Colby, 92, died July 30, 2020 at Gray Birch Long Term Care in Augusta. She was born Dec. 24, 1927 in Somerville to Guy F. Peaslee and Leola Benner Peaslee. Evelyn grew up in Somerville working with her family in the woods, raking blueberries and picked potatoes in Aroostook County. She went to school until the war started.

    Emery Easton “Brownie” Brown, son of Mabel Hayden (Easton) Brown and Arthur Bernard Brown, was born Aug. 18, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts, “a subsequent product of the earlier celebration of the signing of the armistice ending World War I, Nov. 11, 1918.” He died May 18, 2020.

    Francis “Eli” Whittaker, 73, of Hale Pond Road, Wiscasset, passed away July 22, 2020 at his home.

    He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on Feb. 16, 1947, son of Benjamin and Evelyn (Godin) Whittaker. He was the brother of the late Nancy Demers. He graduated from Burrillville High School where he played hockey.

    Peter White Holland, 74, also known as “Chewy” but definitely not “Mr. Holland,” passed away on July 20, 2020 after a brief illness. He was a resident of Brookfield, New Hampshire.

    Born in Portland, Maine on Sept. 29, 1945, Peter was the son of Barbara (Healey) and Robert Cades Holland. He grew up in Andover, Massachusetts and moved to Bedford, New Hampshire in 1980 where he spent 35 years raising his family before retiring to Brookfield.

    Jib Fowles, 79, professor emeritus of media studies at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, died on March 7, 2020.

    Born Robert Briggs Fowles in 1940, he was given the family nickname “Jib” as an infant, and used that name all his life, both personally and professionally.

    John Van Reed Lyman died on July 17, 2020 in Edmond, Oklahoma after a long illness.

    He was born in Bronxville, New York on March 14, 1939 to Richard Van Reed Lyman and Lois Marean Lyman, formerly of Camden and Wiscasset. He grew up in Camden, Maine, graduated from high school in Boothbay Harbor and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from March 1960 to March 1964.

    Ralph was born Nov. 14, 1925  in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. 

    He grew up in a small suburb of Braintree, Massachusetts. 

    He served in the Navy as an airman during World War II.

    Adney M. Peck Jr.

    Adney M. Peck Jr. of Nobleboro passed away peacefully on July 9, 2020, after a short battle with cancer.  

    Born in Nobleboro on Jan. 6, 1937, he was the son of Adney and Florence Peck.

    During high school at Lincoln Academy, Adney met the love of his life, Iverne Weston. This courtship and his love for her for more than 63 years proved evident as she was by him to the end.

    Arthur “Ross” Edwards, 80, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2020 at Boothbay Green assisted living in Boothbay.

    He was born on Sept. 26, 1939 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Arthur and Constance (Ross) Edwards. He grew up in Wellesley, Mass. He married Leslie (Davis) Edwards in June of 1963 and they resided in Natick, Massachusetts with their three boys until their move to Boothbay in 1987.

    Ruth Pauline “Polly” Webber, 76, of Wiscasset, passed away at her home on July 07, 2020.

    Polly was born in Boothbay on June 21, 1944, to Arthur R. and Florence (Mathews) Delano.

    Polly worked at Stinson Seafood Company and for many years at the Reny’s Warehouse. She collected Native American memorabilia and really enjoyed mowing her lawn.

    Frances Ann Browne, 86, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2020 at the Glenridge Nursing home in Augusta, Maine.

    She was born on Jan. 19, 1934 in Cassopolis, Michigan, the daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret (MacNab) Kiehn. She grew up in Michigan living in Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor. She graduated from Laurel School for Girls in Cleveland. Upon graduation she went on to attend college at Colby Sawyer.

    Robert L. Wallace Sr.

    Robert Leslie Wallace Sr. passed away peacefully at St. Andrews Village on July 7, 2020 at the age of 92. His family was happy to be near him during his final days, and could not thank the staff at St. Andrews Village enough for the care and love they offered him.

    He was born in Boothbay Harbor on March 9, 1928, the third child of Erville J. and Ethel Gilman Wallace. While he loved to travel, Boothbay Harbor has always been his “home.”

    He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 3, 1930 to Peter Larsen and Ruth Everts Larsen. He spent his childhood living in Dorchester, and later Quincy, with his father, stepmother, Violet Blakeney Larsen, his three brothers, Edward, Robert and Herbert, and his sister, Dorothy.

    A longtime resident of Maine, he built his home adjacent to his grandparents’ summer home called Eagle Ridge (located in East Edgecomb). Every summer numerous relatives and their families gathered at the estate to enjoy time with family and friends on the Damariscotta River.

    Ruth Arlene Strout passed away on June 18, 2020 at Miles Memorial Hospital. At the time of her death she was a resident at Lincoln County Elder Care in Boothbay.

    Arlene was born July 7, 1925 in St. George, Maine to Alexander and Evelyn Morrison. She was a graduate of Morse High School. She was married to Harold “Bud” Strout on June 14, 1944. They were married for 56 years until his death in March 2000.

    William Foss Thompson, 93, son of the late William Laban Thompson and Mildred Foss Thompson of Boston, Massachusetts, and a more than half century summer resident of Southport, Maine, died June 12, 2020 due to complications from a fractured hip sustained during a fall at home in Boston. June 12 was also his 66th wedding anniversary with the late Juliana Wilson Thompson who died on April 11, 2020 due to lung failure after contracting COVID-19.

    Ann was born Dec. 24, 1940, the only child of Horace and Adele Riggs. She was raised in Needham, Massachusetts and in early adulthood would call Newburyport and Marshfield home.    

    In 1995 she and her husband Joe purchased the Country Cabin General Store in Wiscasset, Maine, where she enjoyed managing operations with her sons by her side.

    Jean Bailey Sutter, 94, passed away on June 7, 2020 at her home in Wiscasset.

    She was born in Wiscasset on Sept. 20, 1925, a daughter of Oscar D. and Lillian (Blair) Bailey, the eldest of three sisters. Jean graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1943. After graduating from high school, she went to Boston to attend Bryant and Stratton Business College. After her graduation she returned to live in Wiscasset.

    Terry Glen Holmes, 58, passed away on June 13, 2020 at his home in Boothbay. He was born in Boothbay Harbor the son of the Julia Giles Holmes and the late Robert Holmes. He grew up in the region and attended local schools.

    He was a hard worker and enjoyed his time working as a carpenter with his father for Robert Holmes Builders. He also spent some time working for Bath Iron Works.

    He was born in Bath on Jan. 21, 1947, a son of Clinton D. and Gladys G. (Rines) Kaler.

    Jim attended Wiscasset schools and graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1966. He was employed by Floods Marine in Wiscasset and later at Bath Iron Works retiring in 2010.

    Louis Edward Burnham Jr., 87, of Boothbay Harbor died June 14, 2020 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta after battling a long illness.

    He was born at home Sept. 17, 1932 at Ocean Point, Boothbay, the son of Frances (Odlum) and Louis E. Burnham Sr. He graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School, Class of 1950.

    A lifelong resident of Boothbay Harbor, he married Gloria M. Lorrain on Feb. 10, 1952. Gloria passed away on July 12, 2004.

    Gretchen was born on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1972 at Parkview Hospital, Brunswick to Frankie T. Greenleaf Jr. and Karen Cunningham Greenleaf. The family was complete as she joined her older brother Tyler.
