    Oscar O. Noah passed away peacefully Feb. 2, 2019 at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

    He was born on the family farm in Jahns Valley, Wisconsin on Nov. 28, 1930, the son of Oscar H. Noah and Irene (Haigh) Noah. The family moved from the farm and opened the County Farm Tavern. While attending high school he worked on local farms. After high school Oscar enlisted in the Navy serving until his discharge in 1953.

    He was born in Maine and never lost his love for being a “Maniac.”

    Born Nov. 28, 1939, to Gerald and Louise Kelley, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia, and son, Sean.

    Frank loved being busy, whether riding his bike, working in his shop, walking, or enjoying conversation with friends or strangers.

After graduation from the local high school, she studied at the New England Conservatory of Music and during those years in Boston developed a lasting love of music and the arts.

    Bruce Crosby died under care at Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough on New Year’s Day, also his seventy-first birthday. He had been valiantly battling cancer for nearly 20 years.

    Bruce was born on Jan. 1, 1948 in St. Paul, Indiana.

    He is survived by his wife Edee Deen Crosby, two brothers, and a number of nieces and nephews.

    Ralva was born on March 21, 1935 to George and Josephine (Mooers) London. On March 17, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ronald Orchard in Southport. Together, Ralva and Ron raised their children, Marie Kelley (Jamey), Teresa Tess (Mark), Janice Cotier (Bob), Eric Orchard (Jennifer), foster child Vincent Abaldo and Jason Orchard.

    Dr. Vaughn Carlton Anthony, 81, of Boothbay, died at his home in the presence of family on Christmas morning, 2018.

    Vaughn was born on Jan. 30, 1937, in West Franklin, Maine, to Otis Winfield Anthony and Ruth Clark Anthony. From this small town in downeast Maine, Vaughn went on to a renowned career in fisheries science, helping the U.S. manage its fisheries policies and working with scientists from around the world to conserve and manage North Atlantic fish stocks.

    She was born April 21, 1946, a daughter of the late Seth and Geraldine (Robertson) Hanley. She grew up in Rockland and was a graduate of Rockland High School class of 1964. She spent her childhood summers on Vinalhaven and it continued to be a very special place for the rest of her life. She enjoyed reading and listening to Willie Nelson music.

    Arthur Hale Veasey Jr., a life-long resident of Haverhill, Massachusetts and summer resident of Squirrel Island, Maine, died Dec, 26, 2018 at High Pointe House in Haverhill.

    Born Nov. 7, 1922 the son of Decia Beebe and Arthur H. Veasey, he was a graduate of the class of 1941 at Phillips Academy, and pursued his higher education at Kenyon College before enlisting in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

    Charlie was born in Rockland, Maine on Sept. 6, 1931. He was the son of Charles A. and Mary E. Heino, who were native to Finland and Poland, respectively. Born during the Great Depression to a hardworking and resourceful family, his work ethic and connection to his home and heritage began at an early age.

    She was born Aug. 7, 1924 to Phyllis and Amos Barter of Boothbay. She attended local schools. In 1943 she married the love of her life, Carroll Lewis, and together they raised four children and shared 51 wonderful years together until he passed in 1994.

    Rick was born on Feb. 16, 1954, the son of the late Richard and Mary (Gill) Scanlan of Newton Centre, Massachusetts. He graduated from Newton South High School in 1972 and attended the University of Massachusetts where he majored in geology.

    He and his friends were all avid video gamers. Friday night “Halo” at the Poores’ was an open house with three TVs and lots of laughter and competition.

    Jean B. Slocum, 98, died November 30, 2018 at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She was born on June 7, 1920 to George and Clara (Grandjean) Brickwood in New Haven, Connecticut. She attended Hillhouse High School and Marot College.

    She married T. Bateman Slocum in 1945 and together they raised three children.

     George N. Douin, 60, died suddenly Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at his residence.

    He was born in Augusta, Maine on Dec. 24, 1957, a son of Robert L. and Hermance (Godbout) Douin. He grew up in Starks and North Anson. He graduated from Carrabec High School in 1976. He entered the United States Navy, serving during Desert Storm and retiring after 22 years in 2000. He remained on the fleet reserve until 2009, completing 30 years in the Navy.

    She was born on March 30, 1933 to Philip and Louise (Teel) Blake. Nancy worked in the Boothbay school system as cook for many years, along with several restaurants in Boothbay Harbor including The Rocktide Inn and Boothbay Country Club before moving permanently to Florida.

    Nancy was predeceased by her parents, brothers Frank and Clayton Blake, and son Mark Andrews.

Steve grew up on the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and attended Antilles School. He later attended Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida and The University of Southern Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
