    George Layng Pew Jr., of Villanova, Pa., and Mouse Island, Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully at his home in Villanova on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, after a long illness. He was 77.

    George, son of George L. Pew Sr. and Catharine Anspach Pew, was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa., on February 16, 1936.

    Dane Andrew Bonang, 26, of Wiscasset died in an automobile accident on May 11.

    He was born in Bath on October 22, 1986, a son of Allan and Mary Beth Bonang.

    Dane attended Wiscasset schools and graduated in 2005. He was employed at B & K Auto as an auto technician. Dane's four seasons of the year were football, basketball, hockey and fishing.

    Anne “Nancy” Eliot Hiatt, 92, died peacefully on May 9 at Maine Medical Center, after a day full of some song and visits with children and grandchildren. Her lungs and heart gave out, but not her smile and voice. She recognized the faces and knew the name of the visiting family members, each being “darling.”

    She was born on June 18, 1918 in Wiscasset, a daughter of George Miller and Florence Bell (Jackson) Sproul.

    As a young girl she was employed in Boothbay. On September 6, 1953, she married George Glenwood Lewis.

    Jean Swan Gordon died on April 26, 2013 at her home in Old Lyme, Conn., at the age of 91.She was born on February 22, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the oldest of four children, to John and Helen Ross Swan. After a brief time in Fall River, Mass., the family moved to Norfolk, Va., where her father ran the Norfolk branch of William H. Swan and Sons, a ship chandlery and former ship building company, founded by her great-grandfather.

    Charles was born in Mentor, Ohio to Charles W. and Dorothy Cottrell. He graduated from Mentor High School in 1950 where he met his future wife, Mary Ann Booker. He loved and was very active in sports, participating in football, track and field. He served in the Naval Reserves in the early 1950s.

    Joyce was born in Boothbay on August 30, 1927, the daughter of James Carlton Adams and Victoria (Gove) Adams. She attended Boothbay Harbor High School, graduating in 1945.

    A memorial service to celebrate the life of Arlene V.  Reed will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Damariscotta Baptist Church. The church is at 4 Bristol Road, Damariscotta. The Rev. Glen Vaughn will officiate. Arlene died February 8, 2013 at the Saint Andrew Village Gregory Wing Adult Care Home, Boothbay Harbor.     He was born in Augusta, November 16, 1925 the son of Philip and Lillian (White) McLaughlin. Paul attended Augusta schools and at the age of 16, began his career with the state of Maine at the Augusta State Hospital. He worked in the part of the hospital that was called the “Root Cellar.”

    A graceful parting of one of the nicest guys ever, William Prichard Browne Jr., of Back River Road, Boothbay died suddenly on March 16, 2013. Will was born July 2, 1930, in New York City and raised in New Canaan, Conn.

    He was a Southport summer resident since the age of six at Hendricks Head Light. After graduating from Harvard, he served in the Korean war.
