John Philip Berry Sr., 69, of East Waterboro died at his home on May 21, 2017 from complications after heart surgery.
John was born in Portland July 7, 1947, the son of George and Eva Mains Berry. He graduated from Portland High School and attended University of Southern Maine.

William A. Kautzmann 88, of Presley Drive, East Boothbay, died May 19, 2017 at Miles Memorial Hospital, Damariscotta.
“Bill” was born in Englewood, N.J., the son of the late Fred and Louise (Plattenburg) Kautzmann. He attended and graduated from Tenafly High School in Tenafly, New Jersey. He was a United States veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Allen F. Brewer, 85, of Edgecomb, died May 20, 2017.
Allen was born in Boothbay Harbor, son to the late Harold and Ruth (Sherman) Brewer. He attended local schools, worked in the woods with his uncle until 1950 when he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He served as a Corporal in the Air Force, division of the Army Core of Engineers.

There will be a celebration to remember the life of Marilyn Ava Flint Landry on Saturday, June 3, 11 a.m. at the Wilson Memorial Chapel, Ocean Point, Maine. Marilyn passed away on Dec. 17, 2016. Thayer Vallas, 87, of Boothbay, died peacefully with her family by her side on May 11, 2017.
She was born on January 25, 1930 to the late Stella and William Anastos who both emigrated from Greece.
Thayer grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts and attended Braintree High School and Fisher Junior College.
She served as the secretary to the president of Kelch Grain, a grain brokerage exchange in Boston.

Richard L. Albaum died on May 8, 2017 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Richard was born in Newark, New Jersey to Samuel and Rose Albaum on June 27, 1945. He graduated high school at Middletown Township High School in 1963. He went on to earn a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, following in his father’s footsteps and his love of all things food-related.

Margaret “Margie” Harris, 97, of Cross Point Road, Edgecomb, died at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine, on the morning of May 15, 2017.
Margaret was formerly of New Jersey and Massachusetts.
She was well known for needle crafts and embroidery, and for her love of elephants, and collected elephant items. She belonged to Knox-Lincoln Cooperative Extension for 30 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Harris, and two sons, Douglas Newitt and Thomas Newitt.

Diane G. Longley, 79, of Woolwich, died May 13, 2017 with her family by her side at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.
She was born on November 16, 1937, the daughter of Cyrus and Annie (Chandler) Longley. She grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1957. After high school, Diane went on to Airline School in Kansas City, Missouri and served in the United States Air Force. She is also a graduate of the University of Southern Maine.

Evelyn Jane Thomas, 62, of Boothbay, died May 13, 2017.
Evelyn was born in Belfast on January 7, 1955 to Ronald and Nellie Page. She grew up in Arrowsic and attended Bath schools. She lived much of her life in Bath before moving to Boothbay in 2002. She worked many years for M.W. Sewall and Irving Circle K stores. Her final job was as a waitress at her daughter’s restaurant. She enjoyed laughing and joking with her regular customers daily.

Mary Theresa McCusker, 73, of Boothbay Harbor, died surrounded by her children after a short illness on February 2, 2017 at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Born August 9, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Roland L. Brown and the late Louise M. Brown. She was a resident of Boothbay Harbor for 51 years prior to moving to Baltimore, Maryland in August of 2016.

He was born to Robert and Georgia Nicoll, both deceased, of Back River Road, Boothbay on May 8, 1951. He graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1969.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kim Odell of Bath; his beloved son, Aubrey Nicoll; older brother, Gordon Nicoll; and younger brother, Peter S. Nicoll.

He was born in Bath, Maine on June 23, 1944 to the late Charles N. Barton and the late Ava Dodge Barton. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of King’s Chapel Church, Lahaina Maui, Hawaii.

Carol Edgelow Howe, 93, died Sunday, April 30 at Pioneer Ridge Health Center in Lawrence, Kansas.
Carol was born July 14, 1923 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the oldest of four daughters of Arther F.G. Edgelow and Cybel K.S. Edgelow. She attended the MacDuffie School in Springfield and Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Canada. She graduated fromWellesley College in 1945.

Ronald E. Spofford, 87, died peacefully with his family by his side, on May 4, 2017 at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor.
Ron was born on Friday, December 13, 1929 to Eleanor (Greenleaf) and Dewey Spofford. He was born and raised on Barters Island and spent much of his life living on the island, something he was very proud of.

Paul J. Pendrok, 71, of Alna, died on April 27, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on April 3, 1946 to Joseph J. and Eleanor C. (Larsen) Pendrok.
Paul moved to Maine with his wife Carla in 2000 and they resided in Alna for the past eleven years. He was a jack-of-all trades but worked primarily as a logger in his younger years and as a sub-contractor later.
Paul loved gardening, animals and the outdoors in general.

He was the son of Mark H. Hamilton of North Port, Florida, and the late Sara J. Hamilton. He was born in Peterborough, New Hampshire on October 11, 1962.
Mark was the founder and owner of Hands of Thyme Landscaping of Boothbay.

Robert Perry Landry, 79, of Skowhegan died peacefully at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan on March 23, 2017.
He born April 27, 1937 the son of Richard and Beatrice (Perry) Landry. Robert was raised in Sanford where he graduated from Sanford High School, Class of 1955. He is described in his high school yearbook as "everybody's best friend."

Matthew “Matt” Dennis Gordon (aka Moosie) died unexpectedly March 24, 2017 with family by his side.
Matt was born, raised, and rooted in Wiscasset. He lived with his parents and brother until it was time for the brothers to both set down their own roots.
Matt went through the Wiscasset School system until graduating in 2002. He was a three sport varsity athlete, leaving behind an unbroken record in shot put and discus. He also excelled in basketball and soccer.

Dr. Paula Jane Hallett (nee Shea) died peacefully before dawn March 19.
She was the oldest child of the late Pauline Christian Shea and Dr. John T Shea of Foxborough, Massachusettts. Like her father, Paula attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, graduating with summa cum laude honors from the School of Medicine. She lived for many years in Concord, Massachusetts and in Boothbay Harbor, Maine where she retired.

Murray C. Keene Jr., known far and wide as “Toppy,” died March 21, 2017, one day shy of his 73rd birthday, at the Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the summer of 2015 and was still going strong until recently.

Nancy Trapnell Holmes of Boothbay Harbor, Maine died peacefully on March 18, 2017, in the loving hands of her children at St. Andrews Gregory Wing. Her death comes after a long struggle with various health issues, that took her away from her life of love and service.
Nancy was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, January 7, 1934, the daughter of William and Elsa Trapnell.

Dave was born in Gardiner April 11, 1963 the son of Charles Berry and Shirley (Rankins) Cheney.
He graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1981. Upon graduation he joined the Army where he served as a military policeman. After serving, he attended Fitchburg State College, and was a lifelong learner at the College of Hard Knocks.

Eleanor (Faye) Gray, 79, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on March 15, 2017, at her home in Boothbay Harbor. She was born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, June 22, 1937, and while having traveled extensively with her husband during his time in the Air Force, she never thought of any place other than Boothbay Harbor as her home. Her parents were Louis and Frances (Odlum) Burnham Sr. of Boothbay Harbor.

Harold Franklin Hutchinson, Jr., 82, of Waldoboro passed away on March 14, 2017 at the St. Andrews Gregory Wing. Harold was born on April 3, 1934 in Brockton, Massachusetts, the only child of Harold F. Hutchinson, Sr. and Marion (Houle) Hutchinson. His parents moved to a large riverfront tract of land near Exeter, NH when he was nine years old where he became very independent and learned to entertain himself in the great outdoors.
