Bath Garden Club: Talk on gardening with insects

Fri, 01/30/2015 - 8:30am

The Bath Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at noon at Grace Episcopal Church, 1100 Washington St., Bath.

After a light fare of sandwiches, desserts and beverages, there will be a business meeting followed by a program titled "Gardening With Insects, the Little Things That Run the World," which will be presented by Reeser Manley and Marjorie Peronto.

The presentation will show gardeners how gardening success depends on insects, including pollinators and the many kinds of insect predators that keep the herbivores (plant munchers) under control. We will also learn how the pollinators and beneficial insects can be attracted to our gardens.

After the presentation, Reeser and Marjorie will spend a few minutes introducing their book, "The New England Gardener's Year," followed by a book signing event for those interested in purchasing a copy of the book.

We welcome everyone to come and enjoy this program. For more information, contact Pat Shaw at 207-666-3078.
