LincolnHealth’s first baby of 2016, was born Jan. 4 at 11:43 a.m. just one door down from the room where his sister Anastasia arrived 15 months earlier.

Lev weighed 9 pounds, 13 ounces. His mom and dad, Katya and Quinn Martin of Bristol, arrived at the hospital about 3 a.m. on Sunday night. Lev was born after 14 hours of labor.

“It was really good. The labor was easy,” said Katya, who is originally from Russia. “Stacey (Certified Nurse Midwife Stacey Rees) did a great job helping me.”

“I think this hospital in particular is doing a great job of encouraging natural birth. This is the second time I have given birth here and both times I just felt like I was surrounded by family. Everybody is so nice and welcoming,” said Katya. “You feel like they are here for you.”

Quinn, who spent summers with his family in Round Pond growing up, was living in Moscow when he first met Katya, who worked for the same large company. It was love at first sight, he said.

He said that he likes the way LincolnHealth supports natural birth and the way the staff is always there when you need them.

“The nurses have been great,” said Quinn. “You spend three days here and you see a lot of nurses over that time and they are all just so great. It is kind of that ideal combination of as natural a process as possible combined with state-of-the-art medical facilities.”
