Business Booster Series: Sessions on tourism, local financing, and legal services
The Business Booster Series, hosted by Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission (LCRPC), is a semi-regular workshop series for Lincoln County businesses. Topics covered include marketing, financial management, access to capital, legal services, workforce development, and other timely needs that impact members of our business community. Upcoming hybrid sessions on March 12, March 19, and April 9 (at the LCRPC office and online) will focus on tourism, hospitality, and restaurant businesses; business financing with local banks; and legal services for business.
The March 12, 10-11 a.m. session, is for tourism, hospitality, and restaurant businesses. The session will cover recruiting, retention, training, and workforce development resources the Maine Tourism Association (MTA) offers, featuring MTA Director of Workforce Development, Kathryn Ference. Attendees will learn more about resources available in Maine, as well as variables businesses should consider as they head into the busy season.
The March 19, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. session, will focus on how businesses can use local banks as lenders and as long-term resources- not just lenders as last resort. Attendees will learn about the benefits of building strong relationships with local banks, what banks look at when a business wants to borrow money, and what kind of support a business can get to prepare to approach a bank for a loan. This is not a technical loan-application workshop, but a readiness- and relationship-focused session. It's also an opportunity for businesses to get to know the local commercial lenders that serve Lincoln County.
The April 9, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. session, will cover when a business might need to hire a lawyer and how to assess potential options for hire. Panelists will dig into contract law (including liability and personal asset protection) and business structure, as two common areas where businesses often seek legal services. Attendees will hear from local attorneys and will have plenty of time to ask questions.
Experts in tourism, local bankers, and local attorneys will participate in panel discussions at each of these sessions to help businesses understand the many resources available to support their workforce development, financial, and legal needs.
These informational opportunities will be held in person at LCRPC’s office at 297 Bath Road in Wiscasset and online.
