Committee supports town planner

Mon, 05/15/2017 - 4:15pm

    Dear Editor:

The Wiscasset Waterfront Committee wishes to acknowledge the important position of the Town Planner, in particular Ben Averill. In his short tenure he has brought our committee forward. Yes, he is doing his job, but prior to his arrival we had no direct connection to the cog. Now we do. We have updated our Pier Polices for the good of the town, expanded vendors to the Memorial Pier, which enhances activity there, coordinated events with the Popular Art walk and Chamber (in particular Sea Spray’s Sanctioned Regatta July 4 weekend).

Ben is thoughtful, careful, prepared and extremely appropriate. He has been the missing link for us and the gentle moving forward of the Wiscasset Waterfront.

As we continue to grow in fulfilling our dream of a boardwalk connecting the two piers, and a more active and interactive harbor, attracting small cruise ships and cruisers, the planner is indispensable in assisting us navigate the bureaucracy and important details necessary to implement our goals and visions.

We would like to thank the town manager and our illustrious board for 1. assigning the planner to our committee; and 2. continuing to support that position.
