Dale O’Neil Grover, 88, passed away on March 5, 2024 with his family and loved ones at his side.

Dale was born to Katherine Leeman and Freeman Grover in 1936 and raised in Boothbay Harbor and attended Boothbay High School (Class of ’54), where he played drums and baseball. He was voted most artistic in his class.

Dale moved to Hallowell and worked with his dear, life-long friend, Seth Greene beginning at Augusta Supply Company and ending at FW Webb. He was an electrical purchaser for these companies for over 40 years held an electrical helper license. Dale was never idle, and often worked a second job to support his family. He worked designing cemetery monuments for Murphy Memorials, City of Hallowell volunteer firefighter, drove a U.S. Mail truck and helped in the construction of 19 homes for S. Shepherd & Son. Dale later turned his experience and electrician contacts into a wire-stripping business in his retirement to keep himself busy. When he wasn’t working, he could be found cooking breakfast over an open fire, building puzzles with his wife, setting up holiday decorations, snowmobiling with the Bombahook Snowmobile Club, mowing the lawn, tinkering, or whipping someone at cribbage.

To all who knew him, Dale was known as a kind and giving man. He was quick with a smile and kind word and lived to be helpful to whomever he came was in contact with. His organizational skills were second to none. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family and those he loved, hunting and using his artistic abilities in creating wood crafts.

Dale was predeceased by his mother, Katherine (Leeman) Newman, father Freeman Grover, brother Bruce Grover and son, Neil Grover.

Dale is survived by his wife of 58 years, Natalie (Holmes) Grover; children Amber Page and husband Robert Page of Brunswick, Nancy Long of Southport, Ann Leeman and husband Gary of Hancock, Michelle Graybill and husband Doug of Sarasota, Florida, Randy Grover of Belgrade, Tammy Holman and Jeff Holman of Hallowell and Kathy Gardiner and Vaughn Gardiner of Hallowell; daughter-in-law Tracy Grover; and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
