Damariscotta River cleanup scheduled for Oct. 24
The annual fall cleanup of the Damariscotta River shoreline is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. This event is organized by local oyster growers, along with staff from Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust, Darling Marine Center, and First National Bank/First National Wealth Management. Volunteers are welcome.
Participants will meet at the Damariscotta Town Landing at 1 p.m. Oyster farm boats will transport volunteers to different sections of the river to pick up trash. The boats will return to the town landing at 3, where collected trash is loaded onto trucks and taken to the dump.
Volunteers must bring their own life jacket, and high muck boots and waterproof work gloves are recommended. Coastal Rivers will provide trash bags.
