On June 7, the Down East Yacht Club held its annual Launching Party at the Boothbay Region Boat Yard. There was a great turnout as 192 new and old members enjoyed the food prepared by Sea Coast Catering of Damariscotta. Lurie and crew did their magic and the food was as usual delicious. V/C David Quist and his wife Genie provided the Woody Wagon, and R/C George Hamilton and his wife Theresa was there with our Ships Store. A “fun” time was had by all.

Commodore Skip Williams and his wife Jane hosted the “Family Cookout” at their home on June 21. Approximately 70 members came by land and sea to enjoy the spectacular landscape and views of “pig cove.” Don't let the name fool you; the views of Capital Island from the rolling lawns were surreal. Once again we were treated to a great barbecue meal of ribs and chicken by Sea Coast Catering of Damariscotta. The Woody Wagon was provided by the V/C, and live music topped of a great afternoon.

We are looking forward to celebrating the Fourth of July with our families and gathering again on July 11 to set off on the seas for our annual cruise along the coast of Maine, always great fun.
