EMA director: Lincoln County heeds blizzard warnings

Mon, 02/13/2017 - 6:30pm

Lincoln County EMA Director Casey Stevens reported that Lincoln County residents heeded requests to stay home and off the roads during the Sunday-Monday winter storm.

“Thankfully, we’ve had very few traffic incidents,” he said. “Fewer than 200 people have lost power at any given time during the storm, at least until mid-afternoon on Monday.”

Stevens said that at 10 a.m. on Monday, Waldoboro ceased plowing the roads due to whiteout conditions, but resumed plowing around noon. Because of that, and several tractor truck accidents on Route One near Moose Crossing in Waldoboro, traffic was stopped in both directions on Route One for a period of time.

Stevens said he was thankful he had so little to report during such a major storm.
