Store aisles are not the only place where Halloween is on view several weeks before trick-or-treat time.

Travelers of Route 144 in Wiscasset on Sept. 19 were treated to the sight of a lawn decked out in festive ornaments.

Many of the figures wore smiles; some were waving; and one dangled from a pole over shrubbery.

Halloween, Oct. 31, falls on a Saturday this year.
