Saturday, Dec. 6, is the day of the annual Boothbay Harbor Lights Craft Show, held at the Fire Station. This year it will include the opportunity to have your family’s portraits done in cut paper by Maine only full-time professional silhouette artist, Ruth Monsell of Artful Heirlooms. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monsell depicts over a thousand people of all ages every year, about half from live 5-minute sittings and the rest from photographs or through her website.

Silhouettes are priced per person, which includes two mirror image silhouettes; 5 by 7-inch mats and frames are also available. Silhouettes, treasured for their uniqueness, charm, simplicity and history, are particularly popular for the holidays as gifts for friends and relatives. Adults can opt for the “couple special” and have a single profile of each person cut, overlapping or facing one another.

The artist can also do profiles of pets and loved ones not present from clear, closeup profile photos, while you wait.

This year, a 10 percent discount is being offered on silhouettes cut by appointment. Sittings may be reserved by phoning the artist at 207-350-1020, through Dec. 5. Samples can be viewed online at www.artfulHeirlooms.com.
