Re: Trumpcare: now even worse

    Dear Editor:

I would love to meet Jerry Topinka, the author of the May 2 letter to the editor. He is obviously well-connected to the legislative powers in Washington. Before anyone knew the language, in the still being
legislated American Healthcare proposal, Mr. Topinka had “insider information “ into the newly authored proposal and actually commented on it. If he has that kind of abilities and connections in Washington, I want to have lunch and make sure that some of my needs are directly conveyed.

This is so typical of people today. He actually quoted an ABC poll and this biased main stream media outlet may be where he really got his information. Unfortunately he may need to listen to a liberal biased news program and a conservative based program, compare them and then decide what is true and what is not. Sad! He also may need to take a refresher course in civics to understand that President Trump does not write the laws. He used an incorrect “talking point” ( the loss of coverage for preexisting conditions ) to gain attention and frighten people. Most of all, he placed the wording of
the bill at the feet of the president and that is not how our legislative system works. Quite to the contrary. As late as yesterday (May 6), President Trump reiterated that if preexisting conditions are not in the bill he will not sign it.

We are not being asked to decide between Obamacare and American Healthcare because that ship has sailed. The past eight years has given the citizens another entitlement program called medical care. I have great hope that there are smart people in our two divisions of Congress that will write and pass a great law, if we can get partisan politics to take a back seat.

Back off with “fake facts” and stop falsely inflaming citizens because you are upset with the election.

    Michelle Peele
