Santa Shuffle fun run to benefit food pantries

Sun, 12/14/2014 - 8:00am

Join Lincoln County Spark on Sunday, Dec. 21 for the Santa Shuffle!

Due to inclement weather, as is this season's trademark, the Turkey Trot was canceled but the local need is still there.

“Our food pantries are seeing more and more need and this year is no exception. We want to do what we can to ensure that no one is going hungry in our own communities. Our events are an opportunity to not only come together for fun, but to make people more aware,” Spark committee member Cerina Leeman said. “The Santa Shuffle and Turkey Trot are just two events that are in perfect line with our mission, fun, social, healthy and philanthropic.”

So join Spark for this three mile fun run on Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. The participation fee is $10, 100 percent of it is donated and spread out between the local food pantries in Lincoln County. Finishers will be rewarded with treats and beverages at the end of the race and two lucky participants will win a $10 gift card to a local business. It all takes place at The First parking lot in Damariscotta. Festive wear is encouraged.

Come for the run, stay to shop! Join the Spark committee and shop local for the rest of the day in Damariscotta to finish up your holiday shopping.

Mark your calendars for the third SnowBall and Silent Auction on Saturday, Feb. 28.
