Todd A. Poland

Todd Alan Poland, 53, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 28, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 17, 1958 in Boothbay Harbor, the son of the late Harold and Dorothea Morris Poland. He grew up and attended local schools and was a graduate of Boothbay Region High School.

Todd was meticulous from a very young age with every task he performed. Early in his career he was part of various trade enterprises learning skills in design, estimating and quality control. Todd managed each project as if it were his own. He took great pride in every detail giving each his special touch, that of which he then honed for establishing Poland Builders, Inc. in 1999.

He loved all gardening, was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Todd trained his own bird dogs and loved to take them along with his wife on their upland bird hunting trips. He found solace on their many adventures “up North” in the Moosehead Lake Region. When he wasn’t outdoors he could be found in the kitchen creating new recipes. Like his venison salami.

Todd was a long time member of the Boothbay Fish & Game Club and sat on the Appeals Board for the town of Boothbay for many years. No one was ever surprised to hear that his holiday or vacation time was spent exploring Maine, which he loved, and never wanted to leave.

Todd is sorrowfully missed by his wife Cathy and “The Girls” – his dogs, Josephine and Maxine.

His immediate family survivors include sisters Phyllis Giles of Boothbay and Gail Johnston of Edgecomb; brother David of Fullerton, California; nephews Justin Poland of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Ryan Giles of Boothbay; nieces Shannon Pinkham of Boothbay, Devon Neidner of Gardiner and Kate Poland of Chattanooga, Tennessee, as well as many other beloved family members, friends and acquaintances near and far.
