Dear Editor:

On Tuesday, June 14, the Democratic primary voters of Phippsburg, Georgetown, Arrowsic, Woolwich and Dresden will have a chance to vote for a candidate for House District 53 and your vote should go to Will Neilson.

Will has served his hometown of Arrowsic as chairman of the planning board, as a past member of the Arrowsic Fire Department and as a former board member of the Citizens for Squirrel Point, which thwarted private development of the lighthouse and preserved public access.

In 2013 the City of Bath awarded Will the “Al Smith Community Spirit Award” for his commitment to serve the community. Those organizations cited included the Bath Rotary as former president, Main Street Bath, the Bath Freight Shed and as a founder and current advisory board chairman of the Greater Bath Elder Outreach, which matches volunteers with isolated seniors throughout Sagadahoc County for companionship and assistance with the challenges of aging.

On a personal note, I have served with Will on many of the above organizations and have found him to be friendly to all, a good listener, civil and a good decision maker. He should get your vote.
