Wiscasset Senior Center: Looking ahead to March

Thu, 02/26/2015 - 8:00am

We are days away from March. The days are much longer now and the sun is brighter. Yes, we are still in winter and even April can be wintery, but March should bring the start of mud season and won’t that be wonderful.

I don’t have a menu for March yet, but regardless of what will be served, do come out for an enjoyable Wednesday evening supper. The days are long enough that it is still light when you drive into the parking lot on a Wednesday. You still have to drive home in the dark, but soon that will change. The second weekend in March we go back to Daylight Saving Time!

Of course, the reason to come to the public supper is to get out and be amongst family and friends. However, the meals are a bargain. Where else can you get soup, salad, entrée, dessert and beverage for such a low price? Maybe the ambiance is not that of a fine restaurant, but it sure beats most fast food places. Plus there are always pleasant, smiling people ready to welcome you; and if you want to just sit quietly and enjoy your meal, that is possible.

The cribbage tournament winners on Tuesday, Feb. 17 were Larry Rines first, Della Hilton second, Stuart Wyman third, and Ron Bodge had the low score. The cribbage tournament winners on Thursday, Feb. 19 were Reid Hodgdon first, Luis Serrano second, Amanda third, Joe Campbell low score and Ken Colby had the high hand.

Public supper next week:
